The 3,893 km2 Murchison falls National Park forms the core of Uganda’s largest protected area, containing a wide variety of wildlife including forest primates and 450 bird species. So much is done on this peaceful 40km stretch of river which not only provides the park’s wildlife with water but also offers boat cruise opportunities to local and international tourists.

The Launch trip begins at the Paraa landing area at the point where the river Nile enters Lake Albert and takes you to the bottom of the falls. The cruise is scheduled daily every afternoon departing by 2:30 pm as well as mornings at 8:30 am and 11:00 am when demand requires. Pickups and drop-offs by boat from the north bank at Paraa, as well as Lodges along the southern river, can be per-arranged so roughly the Cruise takes you for 17Km from the bottom of the falls at Paraa for 3 hours.
We also offer a special waterfall Sun-downer Trip with drinks and snacks this is done to spice up your appetite and to keep you calm as you look forward to enjoying the wonders and nature awaits.
While on the cruise you will sight hippos, water bucks, crocodiles, buffaloes, and elephants. You will also see water birds such as cormorants, Fish eagles, ducks, Kingfishers, bee-eaters, and the shoe bill.
Fishing is also available in the river above and below the fall. However, kindly be reminded to bring your own fishing equipment if you’re interested in fishing. Examples of fish available in the river to catch are Nile perch, tiger fish, and more while on this boat cruise, the meandering current and picture square surroundings create one of the most spectacular and enjoyable places in Uganda to witness the sunrise.

The boat cruise upriver from our jetty at Paraa on the South bank to view Murchison Falls at the head of the Fajardo Gorge has been the park’s most popular attraction since the 1950s. We run a scheduled trip every afternoon departing by 2.30 pm as well as in the mornings at 08.30 am and 11.00 am when demands require. Pickups and drop-offs by boat from the North bank at Paraa as well as lodges along the Southern banks of the Nile river can be pre-arranged.
We also offer a special waterfall Sun-downer trip with drinks and snacks included which departs at 3.30 pm every afternoon (subject to minimum numbers) and private trips on an exclusive basis (see below). Guests should please ensure they are at the agreed departure points at least 15 minutes before departure time as timings may vary slightly depending upon the day’s pick-up bookings.
Nile delta cruises (4-5 hours) from USD55 per adult, subject to minimum numbers on board.
The Victoria Nile delta, a 20km voyage downstream from Paraa, is home to rare wetland birds including shoebill and papyrus endemic species. Scheduled delta area cruises with a “breakfast on board” option are offered in the mornings (subject to minimum numbers) departing from our jetty at Paraa on the South Bank at 07.00 am.
