A gorilla permit allows you a one-hour visit/access to the gorillas in the national park of Bwindi, Mgahinga, and Volcanoes national park. Included in the permit is an entry fee, a ranger guide escorting you to view the Gorillas
How do I get a Gorilla permit?
Gorilla trekking is limited only to 8 people per gorilla family per day. Gorilla permits are available only to persons above 18 years and can be obtained from Uganda Wildlife Authority or in Rwanda from RDB.
What is the age limit for trekking the Gorillas?
The age limit for Gorilla trekking (Uganda and Rwanda) and Golden Monkey is 15 years. The authorities are very strict on this, so kindly make sure all clients and children are 15 years of age and above in order to avoid sad incidents like guest(s) children being refused to visit the gorillas.
In Uganda, the age limit for trekking the chimpanzee is 12 years and 10 years children are allowed to visit the golden monkeys in Rwanda as long as they are accompanied by adults.
What should I pack for the gorilla trekking activity?
You need to prepare well for the gorilla trek, we advise long trousers, long sleeve shirts, and blouses, long socks to enable you to tack in your trousers, garden gloves, a hat, sunglasses, hiking boots, insect repellant, and some energy-giving foods.
